The world’s largest Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) gas supply vessel, MV Kairos, has been christened at a historic ceremony on the River Elbe in Hamburg, Germany.
Owned by Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Schulte Energy (BSE), a joint venture between Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» International Group and Bernhard Schulte, the vessel benefits from almost 300 years of the partner’s combined shipping expertise and has been developed using leading-edge, innovative technology that will provide environmental benefits and drive operational efficiency for its customers.
Equipped with Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»’s Fuel Gas Supply Vessel Zero (FGSVO) – a scalable cargo handling and fuelling solution complete with compressed natural gas storage and utilisation capabilities – MV Kairos will eliminate the release of boil-off and flash gas to the atmosphere during normal operations, providing an environmentally accountable fuelling alternative.
Archie Bethel, CEO of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» International Group, said: ‘This is a proud moment for all of the parties involved and marks an important milestone for Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Schulte Energy. MV Kairos’ reduced environmental footprint is an example of what BSE can provide to the gas shipping market; cleaner energy to customers worldwide.’
